There is something special about Secret Saint Week at Valley. For those unfamiliar with the practice it is a gift exchange between all the individuals who are a part of the VLHS community: teachers, staff and students. Each morning everyone puts their gifts under the tree and by midday people come to the tree to find a gift with their name on it. I find it remarkable how beautiful if plays out year after year. It is also a lot of fun to see the excitement on the student's faces when they get their gift each day.

Why is it that students and teachers get so excited about a $2 gift each morning? I think it is because there is something for each of us with our name on it. There is someone in the school community that was willing to buy a series of gifts for us even if we do not know each other really well.

My hope is we all have the same excitement as we think about the great gift God has given us at Christmas. He sent Jesus for each of us. It is like we all have a gift under the tree with our name on it, and that gift is a relationship with our creator and savior. There is no greater gift in the world than what God gave us, the gift of Jesus. I pray that this year we each have the time to say thank you to the one who gave us the greatest gift of all.
