But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect. 1 Peter 3:15
I hope this verse looks familiar to you because it is our theme verse for this school year. I have found that this time of year teachers, students and parents all start to lose their focus on our theme in the everyday grind. We spent a lot of time talking about this verse at the beginning of the year and at orientation camp, but as the calendar turns to February we may be getting so caught up in the day to day that we forget why we are doing what we are doing.
We want to remember to always be ready to give an answer for the hope we have in Jesus. He walks beside us when we are excited to start a new year and when we are just going through the year in the middle of February. The last line of the theme verse is so important as well. In a world that is often the opposite of offering gentleness and respect, we are called as Christians to these attributes.
I pray that each of us renews our commitment and focus to the school year’s theme verse as we are prepared to give an answer to the hope we have in Jesus.
