What words are comforting to you? As I read articles and journals there is a consistent talk about the increase of anxiety in our world. There are various theories as to why this is true. Some feel the social media and 24 hour news cycle have paralyzed people with more information than they can process at any given time. We live in a world that is so desperate for connections with others. I find it fascinating that this is happening at the same time people talk about the world shrinking and everyone being able to connect. Yet so many people feel like they are alone, which leads to this anxiety.
So I go back to my original question. Hebrews 13:5b can offer us the words of comfort we may be seeking. God says, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” Very simply put, you are not alone. The God of the universe promises to never leave you alone. We don’t have to face the hard times or the tough temptations on our own. We have a God who is with us every step of the way. You will not lose this friendship because you said something you later regret. Instead, we receive forgiveness and the reinforcement of God promising to be with us. I hope these words bring a level of comfort to you today. You are not alone; you are never alone.
