If you are new to the Valley View Online, welcome to our online newsletter. Koehne’s Corner is an introduction to the newsletter and I write a short devotion every week that I hope is uplifting or meaningful to people in some way. I usually try to relate some real life events from school or my own life into the devotion. I would like to thank you for taking the time to read the newsletter and Koehne’s Corner each week.
Our theme this year is 1 Peter 3:15 which says, “But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” This verse was chosen as our theme for the year by our students last spring. There is a lot to this verse and we will spend the year looking at different aspects of it.
Today I want to start at the end. “But do this with gentleness and respect.” How different would our world be if we approached everything with this phrase in mind? As we talk about the verse this year we will see how gentleness and respect are signs of strength and how doing things with these two in mind can change everything. I know there were many times this summer I didn’t approach things with gentleness and respect. Maybe you could reflect back and say the same thing. I want to encourage you to reflect on this verse over the next week and approach everything you do with gentleness and respect. Let’s demonstrate to our family, neighbors and community what it looks like to share these qualities with others.
Mr. Robert Koehne
