I can’t believe we’re nearing Thanksgiving already. For many years now Thanksgiving has been my favorite holiday. There are a few reasons for this. One is that I love to eat. The aroma in the house as the turkey cooks along with the mashed potatoes and dressing is amazing. When I sit down at the table and see all of the food it is a memorable moment.

Another reason I love Thanksgiving is that our family is usually together. As I thought about it this week I realized last year was the last Thanksgiving for us to be together as our family of five. This year my wife will be in Chicago for a wedding; I don’t get to go because we have a basketball tournament and I still coach. By next year, we will have added to the family as my son is getting married in February. Next year at this time my other son will be serving in the military so it is hard to say when his next Thanksgiving with us will be.

I also love Thanksgiving because it is a time together to reflect on how we have been blessed without adding in too many other things. At Christmas you have all of the gifts and everything else that goes into Christmas. If you know me you know I am not really a gift person. I would much rather spend time with someone than give or receive a gift from them.

Psalm 95:1-2 says, “Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song.” I pray you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family. God continues to be good and faithful to us through both difficult and easy times. Let’s take a moment to say thank you.
